Nurses Volunteer Exchange Program



Did you know? Together with our Partner from Denmark GV, VIA University in Denmark , we initiated an exchange program to give nursing students in Denmark, the opportunity to come to Ghana -Northern Region (Tamale) to volunteer in selected health centres. This program started in 2018 and has since been active.




Did you know?

Each year we receive either 1 or 2 batches of volunteers with at most 15 volunteers in the beginning and ending of the year. The February 2023 batch which is the seventh consisting of 9 nurses and 2 physiotherapists, marks the 100th volunteer nurses hosted since 2018. HURRAY!!!





Did you know? The nurses stay with host families in a community called Malshegu in Tamale. These host families take them into their households and share food, water, shelter etc with the nurses. They stay for a month doing community service, socialization, touring & sight-seeing, learning the Northern culture and also sharing their knowledge ,culture and experiences.







Did you know? These volunteers consist of general nurses, physiotherapists, pediatric nurses, midwives etc. who are assigned to Tamale Teaching Hospital, Choggu community clinic and Malshegu CHPs compound. They are further assigned to wards of their specialty to provide services whiles learning and sharing experiences with Ghanaian health workers.







Did you know? These nurses spend their final week in Cape Coast visiting tourist sites whilst experiencing Ghanaian lifestyle. They visit Elimina and Cape Coast Castles, Kakum National Reserve and the markets. Also, in their 2nd week they visit the Mole National Reserve to experience wildlife. After which they fly back to Denmark then, the preparation for the next batch begins.
