EMPOWERMENT FOR LIFE PHASE IV

Youth Environmental Brigadiers

The E4L Program is implemented by Ghana Developing Communities Association (GDCA), YEFL-GHANA (Youth Empowerment for Life -Ghana) School for Life (SfL) and Changing Lives in Innovative Partnerships (CLIP) with funding from Civil Society in Development (CISU), DANIDA and Ghana Venskab (GV). The program is implemented mainly in 10 districts in 3 regions (Northern, North-East and Savanna) of Ghana and uses evidence from the local level to influence policies and practices at the national, sub-regional and international levels. The partners envisage that the program will contribute to achieving SDGs 1, 2, 4, 5, 8, 10, 13 and 16.

The Empowerment for Life (E4L) Program – Inclusion, Resilience and Accountable Governance commenced in January 2024 and it is expected to run until 2027, after the successful completion of four phases. The program takes advantage of the four previous phases to contribute to a democratic and just Ghana where all citizens have influence on political processes and where resources are distributed more equally between North and South, men and women, old and young, leaving no one behind.

​The partners of the program envision that through the implementation of the E4L program, they can contribute to empowering civil society in Northern Ghana contribute to improved resilience, equity, and more accountable governance in Ghana. To achieve this goal, the E4L program aims specifically to ensure:

​

1) A transparent and accountable governance system that is responsive to civil society and the needs of citizens in all parts of Ghana;

2) An improved access to relevant quality basic education in deprived and hard-to-reach communities, with civil society in Northern Ghana demanding accountable education governance;

3) Youth are empowered to take actively part in National Policy Processes and influence their economic situation positively;

4) Climate vulnerable communities use climate resilience strategies and technologies to increase agricultural adaptability and have improved livelihoods.
