From Car Wash Attendant to Business Owner, Bawa’s Story

Meet Bawa, a young entrepreneur who rose from being a washing bay attendant to an owner himself. Just like many young people, Bawa always thought starting his own business was farfetched. It demands a huge amount of money, many years of experience and public acceptance, all symptoms of “waiting for the rain”.

Today, Bawa has been able to fight the thought of I need a lot of money to start my business to starting his own washing bay business in Zabzugu.

With his strong-will and determination, Bawa joined an entrepreneurship bootcamp organized by YEFL-Ghana under the Empowerment for Life Program in 2024.

Before joining the Entrepreneurship Bootcamp in Dalun, Bawa overlooked the opportunities right in front of him.

“I realized that my own means were significant, something I had ignored and never valued before the training,” he reflected.

With a renewed mindset, he set out to build something of his own. Bawa established a car washing bay in Zabzugu, transforming a simple idea into a thriving enterprise.

Today, he proudly shares, “I have made it one of the best washing bays in Zabzugu and have employed five other young people.”

His business continues to grow, and his journey is now inspiring other young people across the district to believe in their potential, use the resources available to them, and create opportunities for themselves.
