Youth Empowerment for Life (YEFL-Ghana) is a vibrant, youth-focused organization creating opportunities for young people to lead change in their communities and beyond. We believe in a future where young people are not just beneficiaries of development, but the drivers of it — shaping decisions, building livelihoods, and influencing policies.

Our
history

YEFL-Ghana was founded in 2010 in Tamale, starting as a grassroots youth association with a big dream:

to place young people at the heart of development.

Over the years, we have grown into a recognized and credible membership-based organisation with strong partnerships locally and internationally recognized. — working with organisations like Oxfam, SNV, CRS, Ghana Friends/Danida, and government institutions.

Our models like the Entrepreneurship Bootcamp and Youth Speak Up have equipped thousands of young people with practical skills and have become blueprints for others. From shaping Ghana’s National Youth Policy to influencing youth agendas across Africa, YEFL-Ghana has proven that when youth lead, lasting change happens.

Youth-led governance

Our Board is elected entirely by young people, ensuring that youth voices remain at the heart of leadership and accountability.

We are a growing community of youth groups and individuals who share the vision of “Youth Leading Change!”

Our staff bring experience in youth development, advocacy, entrepreneurship, and community organising — working hand in hand with youth networks to design and deliver impactful programmes.

We collaborate with national and international organizations, government institutions, and research bodies to amplify youth voices and scale up proven models.

YEFL-Ghana has a strong and vibrant team, who supports the development and runnings of YEFL-Ghana. We believe in the "learning by doing" principle. The YEFL-Ghana management team is supported by more than 25 technical, administrative and project staff and over 50 volunteers, who all ensure the day to day running of the organisation.
